Ft Irwin Training Center

Message par Kea » lun. 18 avr. 2016 09:08

Was mucking around on Multiplayer the other night and came up with a simple little CAS training mission which seemed to work quite well. Thought I'd share it here for anyone who is bored.
Read the Readme for details - it's not a "mission" in the sense that Chris P writes missions, it's more of a silent scenario which you'll need to debrief in TacView to see how you went.
Anyway, hope the instructions are adequate...

I hope you mean is bored to make...

It's a CCP Mission. That is what is called and most people know what
this means.

Kea,
first of all thank's for sharing. We all here try to promote sharing and we
definitely encourage people to make and share their CCP Missions creations !
CCP Missions can be made by anyone and this is the greate thing about them...
This is an achievement of FSX@War team and Motus especially, ie, to give
to all users the ability of making missions that engage all sort of AIs in them
while at the same time have a scenario also (user's task).

CCP Missions may lack interaction (as is the case with FSX Missions) but
they can be of great fun, especially in multiplayer... Regarding Multiplayer, is the
only way after all (since Tacpack doesn't work in FSX Multiplayer Missions).

Final note : with "BattleGround Vietnam" FSX Missions, I created an interactive
environment for CCP Missions to be flown in. Exactly because everyone can make
them, so user can have the experience or task he wants to fly...
I thought that people will make and share CCP Missions for bringing BGV alive,
so I could focus on implementing new features and abilities that would increase
interactivity of this Mission System environment.
Instead of this to happen, I have ceased evovlving BGV xml mission code, to
make & provide CCP Missions myself for others to fly... :confused

What I mean is, CCP Mission designers are definitely in need.
If we want to see "this thing" come alive (Military Ops in FSX), more people like
you and also many others have to start getting actively engaged/involved with making
and sharing of CCP Missions that can be interesting for other people to fly, both
in SP and/or MP...
Just one person doing all the work (Bovsam currentlly) is just not enough.

Just a question though : Why haven't you save it as a .miss file instead of providing all
necessary files ?
It would be much easier and would save you much writing in Read Me... Also, after
opening a .miss file at Monitor, user can edit times if he wants something different and
is so much easier for someone to just open a .miss file at Monitor and have everything
ready set, than actually having to build the mission himself with files provided...

Thank's for the mission. Though I haven't flown it yet, looks interesting.
And destroyable target buildings you provide, it's a new "know how" to me...

I totally agree with Chris, sharing your CCP missions is great and I am sure many users will appreciate it. :yourock

As Chris said, I recommend you to create an MIS file instead of providing the separated files. It will be more user-friendly. Also you can add tanker, carrier or SAM sites.

We should create a dedicated thread where users can post their missions.

Will fly it asap! ;)

edit: I can send you a sample docx briefing that I used for the missions of the Syrtis Maior Campaign and the forthcoming United Protector campaign.

Thanks guys, yeah I'll look at doing .MIS files in future then - we had an issue in MP trying to import them but now that I think of it the issue was probably something else (which we've resolved, connection-wise). So I take that on board. I've got a few other training situations for around the Ft Irwin airspace so I might just put it all up as one .MIS file and then folk can just pick and choose what range they want to go and play on :)

Here's a mission file for four ranges in the Fort Irwin training area. Includes the previous On-call CAS scenario. Read the README please - you'll need to add some converted stock objects to your SimObjects/Misc folder. There are also overhead images of each range and a description of the range or scenario. I haven't included a TPS file for a possible SAM site so, apart from harmless flak, this is an undefended range.

Hope it works! Have fun!

The destructible simobjects included, are of a great value for my project also...
They will serve well as targets in BGV also. Thank's for sharing..

Hi Kea,

I just tested your first mission and it is definitely very interesting! :yourock

Chris, keep in mind that as soon as FSX@War, you will be able to use the SimObjects provided in the pack1 in your missions assuming users have installed the pack1. These destructible SimObjects may also not be free of right, especially if they are library objects converted to SimObjects. Depending on what kind of agreement you have with SSW for your BGV project (especially if money is involved), I would recommend you to take great care of copyright in order to avoid troubles. Just an advice.

Yes, I understand that. Money is not involved but you cannot either distribute
models made by payware developers (like Microsoft). It's a problem...
